Panning for Gold

In May, Ga and Papa came for Grandparents' Day--a special day with my nephew's second grade class. They made a long weekend of it and we ended up going to Columa where gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill. A lovely, windy drive through the foot hills led us to a little museum, dusty trails around historic buildings and remnants, and the river where we panned for gold.

In reality, there was more rock throwing than panning--that swish, swish is hard to get down-- but it was great fun to cool our feet and splash about a bit. Lets go again soon!

A few things, first: love the hat (yours), second: what are Edie and Con doing in the group photo, third: when are you going? Sept? (just kidding).
